Palm Unveils the Palm Pre Smartphone


Palm has just announced their latest and greatest smartphone, the Palm Pre and it is the first of several mobile devices to run WebOS. The software, according to Palm, was designed from the get-go to be “constantly connected to the Web.” It’s based on a battery of Web standards: CSS, XHTML, and Javascript, meaning it’s immediately familiar and accessible to Web developers.

Indonesia will stop blackberry service


Indonesia Communication and Information Minister Tifatul Sembiring reiterated for Research In Motion (RIM) as a provider of BlackBerry services in Indonesia to immediately block pornographic content.
"Within a few this week, RIM should have closed the pornographic site content or if not, we will close," said Tifatul after inaugurating the first echelon Ministry of Communications and Informatics (Kemkominfo) in Jakarta on Friday (07/01/2011).

Intel unveils Android smartphone at CES 2012


Intel kicked off its CES 2012 keynote address today in a big way, with the company finally announcing its entry into the smartphone race. 
Intel’s CEO Chris Otellini kicked off the keynote by introducing Intel’s first Android handset. In addition to its next-gen Atom processor, the reference design boasts some impressive specifications, including 8 hours 3G talk time, 14 days of battery life in standby mode, 6 hours of continuous video playback, HDMI supporting 1080p and an 8MP camera with 15fps capability.

Android vs iPhone iOS: which is better for GPS?

Android and iOS both come with Google Maps, but the features included in Android are far more advanced - no surprise given Google's close ties to that platform. 

While Google Maps in iOS is limited to displaying directions on a 2D map, the latest version of Google Maps in Android includes a separate Places app for looking up nearby points of interest, a Latitude widget for seeing where your friends are, and a Layers option that displays Wikipedia, transit lines, and other information on top of the maps interface.
