The 14 inch Dell XPS 14z will start shipping in the US on November 1st. The laptop measures just 0.9 inches in thickness and weighs 4.36 pounds when configured with a hard drive. It is available with a choice of Intel Core Sandy Bridge processors, up to 8GB of RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GT 520M discrete graphics and a slot-loading DVD writer. That NVIDIA graphics support the Optimus automatic graphics switching technology and is capable of sending 3D content to an external monitor.
The Dell XPS 14z comes standard with an 8-cell battery pack which will reportedly get close to 7 hours of battery life.
An interesting feature of the 14z is that it can fit inside the chassis of a 13.3 inch laptop, thanks to its super thin bezel. The 14 inch panel has a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels.
The keyboard is spill-resistant. The laptop has also got a 1.3 megapixel webcam, HDMI output port, USB 3.0 port, a USB 2.0 port and a 7-in-1 media card reader. The supported connectivity options are WiFi 802.11n, Gigabit LAN and Bluetooth.
The Dell XPS 14z has a starting price of $999.
